However, the reverse pitch shift ice delay thing it does is just fantastic. Recently got an rc300 looper and wanted a half decent octave pedal to. Not the cleanest octaves, but very usable. I impulse bought one with the mini switch to change patches, and don't regret it even a little bit. Honorable mention to the Alexander Sugar Cube - it does a slightly warbly "iron lung" tone that's really musical, as well as quite a few other wonderful modulation tones. The zoom ms70 always sounds out of tune, and isn't very musical unless you like that sound. Solid octave down and slightly less pretty octave up? Oc5. So it comes down to what you want- clean pretty octave up? Pitch fork. The only problem I would have is the need for it to be in difference places in the chain for different sounds. I have thought about rehousing the oc5, with multiple switches and knobs to select the different modes on the fly, since they're all great. You can also split the signal and run the lower octave into a bass amp with fantastic results. The "low note priority" mode is super cool. The modern shift modes are great, perhaps not as bright or forward sounding as I'd like, but totally musical. It might not quite sound as cool and synthy as the oc2, but more than makes up for it by tracking really well. The octave down in vintage mode sounds a lot like the oc2 and tracks really fast. I highly recommend his demo if you haven't heard it. I purchased the oc5 after viewing Rabea's YouTube demo.
I don't love it as a drop tune tool in front of gain the formant changes make it fairly obvious that it's pitch shifted. I usually put it after dirt, or in front of a low gain overdrive but after higher gain or fuzz stuff. This pedal is an octave uses a signal transformer and an all-analog circuit to take the note you’re playing and produce one an octave higher, adding it to the original one. It is very musical, totally a great investment. The BricoTahe Octave is the perfect pedal if you want to get the distinctive Hendrix sound, mix of an octave and fuzz. Think Radiohead's "iron lung" but with better tracking. I use the pitch fork for dreamy pretty octave up stuff. I've had two of them, and like a dumbass sold the one that tracks better. That's the 311 sound, or parts of the incubus song "stellar." It's a monophonic only shifter! It tracks poorly down low. Dry and octave down set to like 3/4, octave two off. The oc2 doesn't track well, but sounds amazing in front of a crunch tone, high or low gain.
